Can beneficiaries demand information from the trustee?

Yes. California law generally requires trustees to keep beneficiaries reasonably informed regarding trust administration and material financial matters affecting the trust.

Beneficiaries may have the right to receive copies of the trust, accountings, and information concerning investments, expenses, and distributions. Good communication by the trustee often reduces suspicion, misunderstandings, and future litigation.
