Do I need both a will and a trust?

In many cases, yes. While your trust handles the bulk of your assets, a will is still necessary to name guardians for minor children and to ensure any assets left outside the trust are transferred properly.

This kind of will is called a pour-over will because it directs remaining assets into your trust.
